Hutchens show of force at OCTA meeting

April 13th, 2009, 2:33 pm · posted by Steven Greenhut

We all remember the outrageous police-state tactics of Sheriff Sandra Hutchens at the Board of Supervisors meeting, where more than 20 uniformed and undercover deputies patrolled the meeting and questioned and searched members of the public who were speaking out against the sheriff’s effort to quash concealed carry permits in the county. That event included a deputy who used the security cameras to spy on the notes of two supervisors. One of those supes, Chris Norby, called me to tell me about the heavyhanded security at the OCTA board meeting today. He noted five unifored deputies and a police dog there to monitor the Teamsters protesters. “It’s a Hutchens-like overreaction,” he told me. Norby thought it ironic that the sheriff’s department was complaining about insufficient resources to help out bus drivers who must deal with threatening people who refuse to pay their fares, even as they have more than enough resources to monitor people who are peacefully exerting their First Amendment rights. “It’s part of a pattern,” Norby added.

You can never be too careful when dealing with those bus drivers. They might belong to one of those right-wing extremist groups DHS is warning all the LE agencies in the country about.

Yes, there is a pattern here Mr. Norby.
Using fear and intimidation to "uphold people's 1st amendment rights" makes you wonder who the real extremists are.
Hutchens is anti self-defense, secretive and too erratic. She's not the Sheriff we need in this county.

Those bus drivers are crazy people. Remember that Ralph Cramden guy? "POW! Right in the kisser." No wonder why she is so scared.

Messing with the Teamsters doesn't seem like such a smart move. Who exactly is she thinking is going to vote for her in 2010?

I'm sure that they were there due to some unspecified "threat" made someone was going to open carry a ticket puncher!

Oh come on guys. You are all over reacting.

We seem to all forget that she *loves* dogs. That's all! She just wants a cute cuddly wuddly to be there with her.

She's out of her league messing w/OCCCWS and now she wants to P/O the Teamsters?

Those teamsters better watch out or Hutch will give them a choice: Either turn in your DL or have it revoked!

Oh, & how much $overtime$ was involved in keeping those vicious teamsters in line?
