OC Supervisor Chris Norby to Appear – The OC Show with Cameron Jackson
OC Supervisor Chris Norby to Appear The OC Show with Cameron Jackson Fridays 5 pm to 6 pm on KUCI 88.9 FM KUCI 88.9FM in Irvine, Orange County Public Radio Jan 30th, 2009 by Cameron. Well it seems it’s going to be a long 2009 for Sheriff Sandra Hutchens. She has gotten off to a rocky start with her concealed weapons permit policy. Essentially Sandra wanted to revoke several permits issued by Mike Carona and make the process to obtain a permit more stringent. Sandra’s new policy has drawn the wrath of the supervisors and 2nd amendment supporters. In a recent supervisors meeting, Sandra sent several deputies over to provide increased security in advance of her appearance regarding CCWs. Apparently the Sheriff heard that several 2nd amendment supporters were going to show up wearing empty holsters and deemed this a priority one threat. The deputies profiled potential 2nd amendment supporters and frisked them individually. In addition, the deputies used the chamber’s closed circuit cameras to spy on board members by zooming in on their notes and typed blackberry conversations. You can read about the account here. Commentary: Sheriff goes off half-cocked : OC Register Print Edition The OC Register article I linked to says it best. 2nd amendment supporters are among the most law abiding people in the nation. It was silly to think they would bring a loaded weapon into the chamber. In addition, the deputies went beyond comprehension when they profiled and frisked ONLY potential 2nd amendment supporters. What if the issue surrounded only black people, or hispanics, or lesbians? There is obviously a few knuckle dragging holdovers from the Carona regime that are still rearing their neanderthal heads in upper management decisions. Hutchens better shape up or I think she is going to get shipped out. Join me today as while OC Supervisor Chris Norby calls in to talk about this issue and what it means for the future of concealed weapons permits, the supervisors relationship with Hutchens and chamber security. The OC Show with Cameron Jackson Fridays 5 pm to 6 pm on KUCI 88.9 FM KUCI 88.9FM in Irvine, Orange County Public Radio

How did this interview go? I listened to his interview with Sup Moorlach back in December and the host is definitely not CCW friendly. He states several times that CCW is a priveledge and not a right.

I listened to the interview.
Norby seemed annoyed enough, which in my opinion he should be. He brought up all of the video issues we know and love, as well as the annoying show of force by the Sheriff, and clearly stated the sups were never notified of what was coming. That said, it's clear the Sheriff still refuses to release the tapes to the sups. Sad day. The most disturbing part of the interview, brief as it was, had to do with Norby's assertion that things would have been fine if the existing permits would have been allowed to expire, thus allowing her to have new free will on any new policy she chose to implement. Lame. He also specifically spoke about his support for Chief Walters from Santa Ana PD as being more qualified. Out of curiosity, what was Chief Walters stand on CCW and the second amendment?

Looking forward to running this person out of office, and hopefully helping get someone elected who's more interested in serving the citizen than feeding their sickly paranoia.
