Default Open Carry Memo from OCSD

Orange County Sheriff Open Carry Training Bulletin - Calguns.net

Note that the memo directs officers to visit the Open Carry web sites, and that it notes the posts there seem to indicate the open carry advocates are law abiding and generally respectful of law enforcement. The main concern of the memo is not the current open carry advocates, but those who might join in later and not be so well informed or law abiding.

This demonstrates how important is for our posts here to continue to be thoughtful, mature and respectful. I am sure our fine Sheriff has personnel combing this site looking for some excuse to label us as radicals or revolutionaries. Aside from our tendency to spend too much of our money on “equipment” , let’s not give her any reason to pigeon-hole us as ‘gun nuts’. I am OK to be called a ‘safety nut’….

We should be so lucky that the Sheriff would decide it is better to have these people carry concealed and flat out decide upon a shall issue policy...

and excellant point about being respectful and appropriate...

Will Rogers said, "There's three kinds of people.
There's them that can learn from others,
There's them that can learn from books,
And there's them that has to whiz on the electric fence for themselves."
I prefer to be one of the first two kind and to learn from others' mistakes.

I always try to be thoughtful and respectful with my posts. I think most of us do most of the time. We do need to present a higher standard even though it may be difficult at times.

I'm not asking you to HAVE respect for anyone, I'm just saying our cause is best served by behaving respectfully (you know, like how you're nice to the boss's idiot son because it is good for you job security…)

Being polite is, I think, what is meant here by "respectful". I don't think respect is involved.

Agreed. Respectful is a better choice of words.

I get the point and you are right.
