What does it matter? Why all the cloak and dagger bullcrap? Is there something pertinent to our cause here, cause I see this entire thread as meaningless? IMHO

Look; Gravedigger did add to our success on Tuesday, so let him have a little fun poking at those that are intrigued.

Play along if you like. If not, ignore the thread.

There's little room for poetic license and trickery through linguistic inventiveness. You are better off understanding these concepts, while using plain language and action to make your point.

Are you trying to tell an earnest tale and make an honest point, or are you simply pulling my leg?

Is this thread about guilt and a mistake? Are you mixing poetry with reality in order to explain it away?

You should understand that we don't care because the day was a success as a whole and you had a significant part of that.

LOL! No "cloak and dagger" TaxMan! Just a bit of picking your brains. I was trying to get people to THINK!

The answers that convey the message ... "What does it matter?" Well, I think it matters A LOT. After all, apathy is how we got into this situation in the first place. The 10-day waiting period, 10-round magazine limits, no "menacing appearance" rifles, one handgun per month, no private party transfers without going through an FFL, serialized bullets etc. etc.

Frankly I am a bit shocked that no one has hit upon the answer.

Hmmm ... pertinent to our cause. I'm not sure. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

No one mentioned the driving force behind sheriff Hutchens' revocation of CCW licenses from honest, law-abiding citizens.

Okay, MAYBE some of them avoided a hurdle or two by contributing some cash to Ortega's campaign but they didn't BUY the licenses. They only encouraged him to relax his screening process a bit. MAYBE they only wanted one because they get a personal chuckle out of being able to be armed in public or they think it will impress someone. Whatever the reasons for those "questionable" CCW licenses being out there, NONE of the people who received these CCWs and who now CARRY a personal defense weapon have given her ANY "good cause" to take the licenses away.

She has a death grip on the term "good cause" (and a warped definition of it) when it comes to issuing CCW licenses, but she wants to completely absolve herself of any responsibility on HER part to provide "good cause" for recalling/denying/revoking CCW licenses. She is blatantly applying a double standard. Hutchens is forcibly disarming law abiding citizens who have not committed any crime or given her ANY reason to disarm them simply because she want to get guns off of the streets. Her job is to reduce crime. It is not to disarm an honest society so she can sleep better at night. The people and guns associated with the CCWs now being revoked/denied or not renewed are NOT part of the criminal equation.

So what is her driving force? She doesn't TRUST honest law-abiding citizens to use a gun responsibly. She doesn't believe that the majority of people who want to legally CCW have the reasoning ability to differentiate between an actual threat (an armed robber at an ATM) and a "perceived" threat (someone turning to you in an elevator to ask you for the time.) She thinks she is reducing "road rage incidents," liquor store hold-ups, car-jackings and other temper, passion or adrenaline driven shootings by taking these licenses away. What other possible reason could she have?

I passed in front of her on my way to the mic. I could have handed her copy to her at that time. I could have crossed in front of her again when I had finished, on my way back to my seat but I returned to the row from the other side to further illustrate my point to her.

I passed the letter to her along the row of people in the front from a distance and made the comment I did, because I wanted sheriff Hutchens to know what it feels like FIRST HAND to have someone look her in the eye and imply that even with her credentials and while sitting there in uniform in a "safe" environment, I don't trust her to have the good sense to know when it is inappropriate for her to draw her weapon in self-defense.

That is the reason she is denying, revoking and not renewing CCW licenses issued to honest law-abiding citizens.

After all, I do believe we ALL agree that a person does not need to be carrying a bag of jewels or cash, or driving an expensive car.

I believe we ALL agree that the ONLY definitions of "good cause" for a CCW license issuance are "For any legal purpose" and "To carry in defense of my life"

It is my sincere wish that SHE never feel the need to do so.

Seeking empathy, sympathy, understanding or comprehension by constellating one's own feelings in another is certainly another technique for applying stress, but I suspect she perceives such stress as irrelevant to her mission.

One of our gross accomplishments on Tuesday was to apply a lot of stress.

Your presentation added a measure of that, and thank you for it.

Do you think it would help matters if a copy was sent to the NRA?

Gravedigger, great speach. It is one thing to complain and act frustrated at the Gun Laws, etc., but it is another to drive up from SD to speak to the BOS of Orange. Well done! Thank you.

But the meaning of this thread is a little like this Monty Python Skit.

Cheers.
