Default Attention Southern California Ccw Holders

This applies most directly to those in Orange County, but anybody within driving distance (Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern counties) is urged to read and consider acting.

If you have a current CCW, or if you have recently been denied or revoked by Sheriff Hutchens, you need to know that on November 18, 2008, Sheriff Hutchens will be addressing the Orange County Board of Supervisors regarding the recent implementation of her new CCW policy.
The Board needs to see that CCW is a vitally important issue to the citizens of Orange County, and that other counties are watching what is happening in Orange County. The best way for that to happen is to have people in that meeting room to show their support.

This is a tremendous opportunity to favorably affect precedent for CCW not only in Orange County, but in ALL California counties. The Board of Supervisors may very well take a stand at this meeting against Sheriff Hutchens' restrictive CCW policy. This is virtually unheard of and would be a major demonstration that our elected leaders understand our issue. Sheer numbers there will speak louder than the words which many speakers will offer.

We need as many of you there as we can get. This is important for each and every person who cares about hanging onto their CCW now or keeping it in the future. This is important for those who have only toyed with the idea of applying, but haven't because you thought it impossible. This is important for those of you who think that CCW in California is a lost cause. It is NOT a lost cause!

There are CCW and RKBA cases moving through the courts that will have an impact someday. That's fantastic. Thanks to the folks working those cases! But if you've been standing by thinking you can't make a difference, this is your chance. This is something you can do NOW that can have IMMEDIATE impact if enough of us are there! If this sounds over the top, it is NOT! This could be history!

We need some organization to pull this off. If you can be there and you want more details, please PM me with the following information:

Your forum name:

Real name:

Cell phone or best phone number to reach you:

E-mail:

Please let me know if you are willing to address the Board. We can walk you though what the process is and answer your questions.

PLEASE CONSIDER COMING. Thanks for your time.

The above also applies to any person thinking about getting a CCW. . . .

Board Meeting Directions

You need to be there by 8:45am. I will be there by 8:30 if not sooner. There's every chance SHEriff Hutchens will anticipate a strong showing of CCW holders and have her own supporters there to take up space and speaking time. We need to be there, IN NUMBERS - MASS QUANTITIES, as early as we can to make sure we have our say.

Board meetings are held at the Hall of Administration at 333 W. Santa Ana Blvd. on the corner of Broadway and Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa Ana.

From the South:
Take 5 Fwy north.
Exit on Grand Ave.
Turn left on Grand Ave.
Turn right on Santa Ana Blvd.
You will travel several blocks.
After you cross Main Street, the next light is at Broadway.
The white, five-story building across the intersection on the right is the Hall of Administration.
Drive to the end of the block past the building and turn right on Ross. Make an immediate right turn into the parking lot.

From the North:
Take 5 Fwy south.
Exit on Grand Ave.

NOTES

Suggestions for those who appear:

Wear business attire. You must look professional to be taken seriously. Don't show up in old jeans and an AC/DC tee-shirt. For men, I suggest a suit and tie.

Breathe while speaking. Relax and use short sentences. Get to the point quickly without long introductions or final paragraphs of speech. Speak with a command presence.

Try not to bug out your eyes, or look angry. Just the facts in a relaxed manner!

I know public speaking is hard. I find that short answers and addressing people with Sir or Ma'am is the best way to show professionalism.

Putting them at ease with a joke is good - if you can pull it off.

For that matter, anyone in your household that you protect with a CCW permit should be there, too. (minor family members, elderly, spouse without GC to obtain one, etc.)

Dan, what time does the meeting start, and when is her time slated for? My schedule is tight, but I'd like to be there.

You need to be there by 8:45am. I will be there by 8:30 if not sooner. I was there before 9:00 at the meeting on the 21st, and about 50 union people came in and put a bunch of slips in the box to speak on an agenda item. Added two hours to the meeting. We can't let that happen to us. There's every chance Sheriff Hutchens will anticipate a strong showing of CCW holders and have her own supporters there to take up space and speaking time. We need to be there, IN NUMBERS - MASS QUANTITIES, as early as we can to make sure we have our say. We don't know what number it's going to be on the agenda, which hasn't been made public yet. We need to be prepared if it's early on or later.

It sucks, but we can't let up. Hopefully we'll be done by noon, but you never know. It depends a lot on what else is scheduled on the agenda, and the order they are listed.

You know what after reading about this for about what I think is 2 months I'll have to say its time for a change. I'll support this project, certainly everyone who is truly a registered ccw, in the process ccw or other should be expected to come or at the very least write a letter for the certified and inlines like myself to take to the meeting. I'm no organizer but from what I've read so far we've got to make our fight heard. I believe this support should come from everybody, no matter what county, we treat it like the economy right now, we help the other counties out, I'm from San Bernardino and I'm willing to go just to see what the actual process is. I think the planning for this has to be immediate, lets do, lets support OC, lets do it, time for change.

What happens in OC can happen in the rest of the state whether it's good or bad. This could be a huge turning point either way and more than deserves as much support as can be given.

ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SECTION 1. All people are by nature free and independent and have
inalienable rights. Among these are enjoying and defending life and
liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and pursuing
and obtaining safety, happiness, and privacy.

The above was copied from the California State Constitution. It looks to me
like the requirement for a CCW license might be unconstitutional. "and obtaining safety" would mean that I can CCW for my personal safety. Could someone enlighten me about this?

Thanks

You may be on to something Don. RD (RomanDad) may be the one to pass this one on to.

Bring her! We need props!

"Here is my daughter, one of the people I am charged to protect with my CCW,..."

If she's old enough to articulate a position, let her speak!
