The sheriff does not have the authority to place value on a life. If the sheriff feels a judge is more valuable than a Texaco employee, then her values are screwed up, and she should not be a sheriff.

THAT is the bottom line.

By continually arguing that one person or another is at greater (real or percieved) risk, and is more deserving, is to fall into the same rhetoric that the sheriff is following.

Everyone in this country is SUPPOSED to be created equal, and deserving of equal rights, and equal protection, and equal right to life, liberty and persuit of happiness. There is NOTHING in the consitution that strays from that ideology.

As far as I'm concerned, the LEO's should be like London Bobbies, if people like this Sheriff deem her actions as reasonable restrictions.

The government is suppose to be By the people, for the people...not some bureaucrat looking down her nose 'knighting" those she deems worthy.

It is funny how something so simple can get so complicated. The 2nd Ammendment says your right to BEAR (Carry) arms shall not be infringed.

Your good cause is the fact you are alive and want to stay that way. The government can't infringe that right.

I wish California was part of America.

I wish I could have a crystal ball like the sheriff has. You NEVER know when you are going to be found in the midst of trouble. I got lost once on my way to La Mirada, by the time I figured out my directions were wrong I was driving through Compton at 10:30 at night in a brand new car

I did not intend to be in a wrong place at the wrong time, but there I was, in the wrong place looking for a wrong time.

I like the way you said that. It is SIMPLE and too the point.

The sheriff seems to be saying:

"Oh, you're a real estate agent and you think that's a dangerous occupation? OK, find another line of work."

and

"Oh, you're a judge? That is dangerous. Here's your CCW."

Yeah, if I was able to sit in a "sterile" building all day long with hundreds of armed Sheriffs deputies, I guess I could keep my CCW too.

I've actually heard an Undersheriff of a different county, say that about a CCW holder. It was a different and more dangerous profession. "Find another line of work" or something like that. Saying something like that is not only hypocritical, but the maximum in elitism, arrogance, presumption and sanctomonious to the extreme.

If there are better words to use, please tell me.

Who the hell do these jerks think they are?

No, that's a pretty good list. You left out "Hubris" but I didn't feel like it was really missing.

Perhaps the correct response is to point out if the arrogant ***** could keep you 100% safe all the time you wouldn't need a CCW.

I carry a gun because I can't conceal a cop.

Sorry, I was including Parole Offices with Correctional Officers. As a CO I had a lot of interaction with PO's and just felt like they and us were together.

Liberatiarn, Can I use your quote to make myself a Tee shirt with??
