LAKE FOREST – A 44-year-old man used a 9 mm handgun to shoot his estranged wife and kidnap his 9-year-old son during a custody exchange Wednesday evening, authorities said.



According to Sheriff's Department officials, Lonnie Ramos, 44, shot his estranged wife as she showed up in the 19000 block of Torres Way to pick up their son about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The woman was behind the wheel of her car when someone suddenly opened fire, hitting the woman as many as two times in the upper body, Amormino said.

After the shooting, Ramos is believed to have taken the couple's son, Ryan Ramos, and drove off in a red Porsche.

An Amber Alert was issued for Ramos and his son. Ramos is driving either a white 2004 Chevrolet Suburban with the California license plate 5LTC712 or a red 911 Porsche convertible with the California license 4BWU827.

BTW I heard on KFI it is not a 911 but a 944 Porsche Red Convertible with a Black top.

According to Smogcheck, the Porsche is a 1992 968. I'm not that into Porsche, so I don't know exactly which model/family the 968 belongs to.

It said a 92 Porsche. I saw the amber alerts last night while driving home after dinner. There were on freeway jumbo screens.

Look for Porsche on the road or abandoned somewhere and the Suburban listed above.

Authorities believe the man may be driving a 39-foot, purple and gold 2005 Fleetwood Providence RV with a license plate of 5EGW5556.

An Amber Alert was issued for Ramos and his son. Ramos is driving either a white 2004 Chevrolet Suburban with the California license plate 5LTC712 or a red 911 Porsche convertible with the California license 4BWU827.

My office overlooks the 22 freeway at Main Street. I am on 5th floor looking right down the freeway. It has been hard not to spend a bunch of time today looking for a purple motor home.

One observation. If he is tooling around in that thing he is toast. In three hours I have seen 3 motor homes period! This is on 4th of July weekend too.

Not one red Porsche convertible. A few white Suburbans.

Hes gone.... Hes been on the run 24 hours now.... He could be in Guatamala by now. They didnt start looking for this thing till he was through the border.

He did waste time trying to buy a plane ticket at JWA.

It seems this guy might have thought this through well in advance. I see some smoke and mirrors in play.

Either that or he has been dumb lucky to this point and his luck WILL no doubt run out.
