OCSD Temporarily Not Issuing CCW's, Effective 6/23/08

I just got a call from CCWI, He asked me to post this announcement.

Per the amoury (John Bergner) , Melissa called them at 7:00 AM and told them to continue to inspect the firearms. However, temporarily no new CCW's will be issued until further notice. This includes first time applicants and renewals.

After a complete review of all CCW's, they will start issuing again. No ETA on that. He is awaiting confirmation from PSD.

The Hold is still in place and will continue at least till July 9th or 10th. They are not granting interviews for new applicants either.

Effective today 7/7/08, the ban has been lifted for Judges, and Level I and Level II Reserves ONLY. More may follow shortly, nobody knows.

She will be meeting will the Police Chiefs of Orange County this week to explain her policy to them. Currently, her staff does not know her current policy completely yet.

This has been confirm by multiple sources.

I just found out today, 7/9/08 that Deputy District Attorneys (Federal/County Prosecutors) were also added to the approve list.

This afternoon 7/16/08, Level III were added to the approved group. Still no word on retired Federal Law Enforcement Officers.
