Sandy Sue is actively seeking money for her campaign, when will we have active candidate? is there limited period of time for campaigning. Will a shorter time for fund raising leave whomever runs playing catch up.

She is going to be very hard to beat if someone doesn't get in the race very soon. Campaigns take at least one year to get rolling and to get thier message out, not to mention raise money for the campaign.

We need someone with a more liberal agenda to run in addition to a pro-CCW candidate. Look at the '92 presidential election - Perot cost Bush the election because he sucked up 10 or 12% of the vote.

Incumbent out, pro-constitutional rights sheriff in.

I'll run on a BS platform of eliminating CCWs, supporting the release of illegal immigrants, etc.

Good point...you can probably easily get the union vote too by offering big perks which you can not possibly really provide.

I think these days, "they" want folks to have an "Intermediate" level POST certificate... basically one level above the Basic POST... which requires some additional education beyond POST classes.

Is there a candidate that is running against Hutchens yet?????????

I just don't see her losing her race if nobody is intending to run, and if nobody has announced yet, it's going to be really hard to mount an effective campaign with less than a year to go.

Same question here PHM. I've asked before too. I keep hearing - "any time now there will be an announcement." There's a blurb in the OC Register this morning talking about the Santa ana Chief and a retired Lt Hunt. any body know about Hunt? Has there been any decision made if or when this group will support a candidate? This will be the first time ever that I got involved in an election. I want my CCW BACK!!

This group will support a viable candidate as soon as one announces his or her intention to run against Hutchens. That hasn't happened, so we wait. There are rumors from various parties, but nothing to confirm or deny at this point. We understand and share the frustration, but it is what it is right now. When we do know something for certain, you guys will know it too.

We don't announce candidates. Only they can do that. We're ready to support the right candidate both financially and with volunteers.
