Michelle Malkin took an interesting look at the state of the California GOP.

Michelle Malkin is right on target. We can no more advance our views by abandoning them, than we can spend our way out of debt or tax our way into prosperity. It's the so called republicans that push for RINO's like McCain and Arnold that need to be thrown out of the party.

It sure seems like they could have found a better candidate to support. It's hard to think of an example company that actually has worse service, red tape, and posturing (there's no fraud problem on eBay ) than some government agencies, but eBay is actually one of them.

Still, I suppose I'll have to hold my nose and do it - but under protest.
I think it is because the political spectrum is just that, a spectrum and most of the California GOP fall farther left on that spectrum than you and I would like.

On a bit of a side note...
It has always amazed me that the GOP has made any gains EVER in our nation. Of the two parties, you have one that is based up on standards and another that is basically the coalition of groups that want no standards. How can we compete against a party that is the equivalent of a bunch of kids in a candy shop where everything is charged to those who paid for the store?

Our biggest problem in the GOP right now is deciding what it means to have a "big tent". Reagan had a lot to say about it, but his opinion of a big tent was different than what it has come to mean today. If i can find the speech I'm thinking of I'll post it later.

Trying to influence a Party by temporarily giving up your influence to 'send a message' just gives a bigger percentage win to the bozos who want to move the Party away from you. And they will point to that bigger win and call it 'momentum' in their direction.

The way to turn the Party in your direction is to stay within it and ally yourself with those who share more of your views than the bozos.

Oh, and don't give time and money to the Party until you've given it to your allies within it. Instead, give the Party leadership a message -- a Monopoly bill taped to a letter would likely do that job. Be sure to mention who you do support, not just what you don't like.

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

Which book was your quote from? Sadly, there is truth to that quote.
