We need only to look at fleabay for an example of how she would handle guns. You'll be able to buy a scope or a sling but not a magazine. Quite frankly after 35 years of reliably voting for Republicans I'm through holding my nose and voting for RINOs I'd rather stay home or take a vacation and read about the results when I get back. I've already told my RINO assemblyman that I plan to campaign for anyone that runs against him even if my only other choice is a socialist.

I don't argue with RD re: her abilities as a CEO.

I have a friendship with someone who knows her gun stance. It is not conservative. She does not like guns. Mostly, if I understand it correctly, because she as a CEO is very much into risk avoidance. She sees guns as a risk, not a right.

And, if the various lawsuits go the way we hope they will, it may not matter too much.

I definitely don't go with the "any Republican is better than any Democrat" idea. Arnold is a perfect example of why. In fact, I'm a Libertarian, so most Republicans don't go far enough for me. That being said, Whitman's positions on many issues look (at first glance anyway) to be pretty good. All things being equal, as I said, if the court cases go the way we hope, we may not have to worry too much about her less than desirable gun views.

I think it turned out better than Gray Davis or Cruz Bustamante. Just as I think McCain would've turned out better than the current President. "Better" doesn't mean I like it, just that I dread it less.

If you think that becoming an independent means either party will cater to you, you might be confusing the 'middle' independents with the 'hard-wing' independents. Because the voting populace is viewed as a Bell curve, the 'hard-wing' tails on either side of the curve are ignored as being too few in number to matter. (They're the ones who go off and form yet another 0.5% third party -- like the Libertarian party, or the Peace and Freedom party.) Only the 'middle' independents, who are viewed as being large in number, are not ignored.

It's only the squeaky wheels within each party that get a voice. If you want to get listened to, then show up with a Party subgroup you like -- help them bulk up their numbers.

I'm halfway tempted to vote for Jerry Brown right before I move to another state. Let the state become a perfect example of what a glittering jewel of colossal failure an economy becomes in a state where Democrats run the show.

The one thing Meg Whitman will lack, if elected, is a state assembly and senate run by wandering shreds of human debris (aka democrats and union leaders) that she can't fire.

Im halfway tempted to vote for Jerry Brown right before I move to another stateLet the state become a perfect example of what a glittering jewel of colossal failure an economy becomes in a state where Democrats run the show
Surely you don't mean that. No one is surprised at our anger, I too struggle with what has become of this State, yes it angers me. But we allowed it to happen in this generation & should do everything we can to rectify/improve it before we leave a mess for someone else to clean up. Our spiral to the current situation - however you view it... has been incremental and any change to bring back liberty & prosperity (if possible) will be as well. Perhaps many good people will leave the State for greener pastures, it's an individual decision & no one would fault them. But wherever an American goes, wherever he stays - we must remain brothers in liberty, support each's efforts in the pursuit and preservation of liberty. For those who remain here to battle on... we don't need the post office delivering absentee ballots in favor of ... the enemies of freedom. I will leave the State one day, economics may lead me to decide that it is the most prudent thing to do for my family, death is a certainty.... But I intend to leave the place as honorably as I can. Who's with me? (picture Belushi at the end of animal house.... ralllying the boys...)

Meg whitman on the Hugh Hewitt Show Re: the second amendment :

q: "Are you a gun owner?"

A: "I am not a gun owner."

Q: "Whats your stance on the second amendment?"

A: "I'm a supporter of the Second Amendment... We have some very strict gun laws in California. I think we should stick to enforcing those laws, and not adding new ones to the books."

Good enough for me. Lets face it... No governor whether it be Meg Whitman or Attila the Hun is going to have the opportunity to REPEAL some of the more Draconian Gun Laws in this state. The lawyers are going to have to do that.... So the best we can hope for on guns for governor is somebody who acts as a goalie, keeping MORE laws OUT.

I think this poster pretty much sums up the destiny of Ca Government:

Not that I'm advocating a vote for Jerry Brown, mind you, but the current CA administration hasn't done too good of a job of avoiding financial disaster! Anyone here listen to John & Ken on KFI?

Exactly! The ship is going down. The captain might as well have a "D" behind his name when it happens. California has already gone over the cliff.

Amen. Leave if you have to Dutchman, but don't screw the rest of us who have to stay behind. One of the chief things that makes us better than the Left is that we have a sense of honor and responsibility.
