On the occasions I have had to take guns to gunsmiths, I am always surprised at how little they charge to do the work, well worth it, IMHO. If you send it to Springfield, they might not charge you anything--call them first to arrange for the return and authorization.

The last time I sent a gun to Springfield (defective rear sights), they charged me nothing, my only cost was shipping the slide to them--they paid for the return shipping costs.
