After the gun is clean, that rag is soiled in places with Hoppes 9 cleaner from excess drips, ect.
Well, I ran that rag through the washing machine with all of our dark clothes and our clothes reak of Hoppes 9 cleaner after the wash--twice. We ran the washer twice and all of the clothes still reak of hoppes 9. Is there anyway to get that smell out of our clothes? The only problem I can think of is that we use this eco-friendly detergent crap that does not smell very strong.
And no, this is not a joke. However it is funny and sad for my clothes, but true. Thanks for the help and enjoy your funny story today at my expense.

The odor you are smelling is creosote oil mixed with an organic solvent.
Tuff stuff to get out of clothing and frankly, I dont know why you would want to. Ive been smelling it for over 40 years. Nothing like the smell of Hoppes #9 in the morning (or afternoon) it smells like victory!
