Years ago I ran a security (lock, safe, bank vault) business, and would use Simple Green® to get out bad smells from clothes - including once when an owner dropped a gas bomb from his vault door (not a good day).
Add 1/2 to 1 cup (makes a 2-5% solution) of Simple Green to your wash after the tub is filled with water, then do extra rinses (one is usually enough) until no smell remains. If your fabrics retain the Simple Green smell (this happened to me only once) run 'em again with baking soda and it will all be gone.
The only caution with Simple Green is not to dry until its smell is completely gone.
Sorry I didn't suggest this before.
It's been a while since I needed it.
