Be cautious about who is picked to politely ask about her CCW policies. It can't be the same person(s) over and over, or else you'll just be dismissed as a single issue gadfly. My point in getting to her early in the game is to establish a mind-set for her. Kind of like "first come-first served." Have her wondering, "Gee, I had no idea that so many Orange County residents felt so passionately about the 2nd ammendment, and CCW. In LA County it seemed like a non-issue." At Christmas time, get together, take up a collection, and buy her a lifetime membership in her name to the NRA.

I belong to the Rotary Club. In the past few years, we've had Mike Carona out for lunch with us twice. He was well-spoken.
So, perhaps we can get our new Sheriff invited out? I'll ask our Program Chair.
