OK...
I carried various 1911's for about 20 years ... stuck in my waistband.. sans holster...

I have upon occasion carried a Smith model 12 - old school lightweight - and an astra 380 bug upon occasion....

Wouldn't carry a glock with one of them clip thingee's just stuck in my pants like some of my friends...I have too big a butt..worked to hard sitting on it to want to lose a chunk to "holstering" my tupperware.....geez....the thought makes me cringe

1911..though...no problem with border carry... however, I find that I "monkey" with it too much if it is just stuck in the waistband.. a holster with two attachment points is much much more satisfactory.
