Unless you getted hooked into a bunch of local PDs it is probably not a very lucrative business to be in even during the best of times. It has to be really tough now when discretionary spending gets pushed off until later - and if you are married then gun-related work is discretionary (it was second only to eating when I was single).
John has been doing work on my rifles for seveal years now, and nobody touches my rifles unless they are really good. John recently turned an old FN Mauser 30-06 that I had into a really slick 9.3x62mm - new barrel, grooved receiver for stripper clips, forward mounted sight rail, matte finish on metal adn oil on stock - he really did a superb job.
He is CCW himself, and loves 1911s, so I started feeding him some pistol work. Great results! Funny thing is that having his CCW thru Riverside means you can't carry 1911s - they apparently believe that a 1911 takes too much practice for the averae citizen to handle competently!
