G32, did you check with Lightning Arms Sports? They usually have most VMIIs in stock.
I, too, am considering the Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag. Beautiful in their satin stainless with wood grips; though probably more practical and user-friendly with the big, rubber wraparounds.
I'm gonna shoot some revolvers at the Turner's Shooting Fair the 1st Friday in June out at Raahaugs in Corona. I'll decide then if I'm going to get one or not. I may spend the money instead on another Garand from the CMP.
