I have spoken with a veteran EMS professional who states that he prefers gun shot wounds to knife wounds. He will send someone else if he can get away with it when the call comes in for a knife fight. Not only do you have a multi dimensional threat, where a gun is either a straight line from the muzzle or an impact weapon, but a knife also can change direction after entry(which I understand is very common). I consider a knife to be more dangerous than a gun, and I'm sure that in the right hands it's quite the manstopper also.
