By "buying it for her" I meant that it was purchased specifically as a tool to teach her the fundamentals of shooting. Her actual birthday present was a trip to Vegas last weekend. It will be in my safe and it will be cleaned and maintained by me. She has tried shooting my glock and my .38 special but gets freaked out by the recoil so she asked me if I could purchase a new gun that would be easier "for her" to learn with. So it's just something special I did for her birthday to include her in one of my favorite activities. I would otherwise have no use for a .22. Hopefully she will want me to teach her how to shoot a Kimber Ultra CDP next

I told the dealer straight out that I was buying it to teach my wife to shoot. Last time I checked that's not a straw purchase.
