I'm not an instructor of any sort, but I have to agree with CCWI's statement. A knife will make you just as dead, generally just as quickly. Unlike a firearm, you will most likely NEVER hear it or see it coming. The Tueller Drill (or similar drills) are very, very enlightening and highlight the need for good awareness.

There is a reason why fighting knives have been around since the ages... and persist even after the invention of the gun.
