Default Edged Weapons

This is an aging thread, but I thought I should comment on the edged weapons item. Since the late 60's I have been training in Philippine escrima, a martial arts system that covers grappling, the full range of kicking/striking techniques, and edged weapons - in fact the art starts with edged weapons and most of the progressions are based on weapons techniques. Also, in the early 70's I was involved in counterinsurgency operations in an area where terrorist activity often took the form of knife or machete attacks.

As I work my way towards my CCW, I have to tell you that in my mind a trained man with a blade is every bit as dangerous as a BG with a firearm at close quarters.

There is a video out there that was produced several years ago, I think the title was "Survivig Edged Weapons," and it was intended for LEOs. One of the masters in Escrima, Danny Inosanto, helped produce it and was in the video. If you can get it, watch it.
