The outer dimension of the .357Sig, and I'm certain the .40 too - the firearm itself - is very slightly fatter than the 9. Not enough to affect its concealed carry, but enough so you're not going to be jamming a fatter magazine or a larger-diameter barrel into the 9. This would be to accommodate the bigger cartridges. Just make sure you know what you're getting when you order.

Re: grip sizes -- I have big hands, too. I use a Pachmyar slip-on sleeve, and it helps a lot.
That's weird. Most other guns, the only difference between a 9mm and .40S&W is the barrel and magazine since the overall diameter difference of the two rounds is about 1mm.

Should be noted you can go "down" the spectrum with a Sig though. If you have a .40/.357 you can get a 9mm barrel for it. Bar-Sto makes some.
