The reason I disclosed was something that the officer doing my interview said after he signed off on the application "If we know ahead of time, it makes interaction "friendly". If an officer sees a gun and you have not disclosed, you are immediatley now a BG until we see the permit, better to NEVER be considered the BG. Hand them your permit with you ID and a smile and everything will be easy, and when guns are invloved easy is always better"

OCRancher,

I got my screen name from one of my hobbies. I had 16 RC cars until when my wife decided that we need to buy the entire family kayaks, and now I am down to 5 Had to finance that venture somehow LOL. Anyway my favorite was hopped up HPI Savage and a really tricked out TMaxx, thus the SavageMaxx screen name. And as far as the classes go, I am looking at either Thunder Ranch or Vallhala...if anyone has any suggetions of a more local train facility let me know.
Good Job... In my CCW Classes I proclaim the #1 rule of a gunfight is to AVOID a gunfight....not just have a gun... but try to avoid the situation... good job there...

As to Thunder Ranch... very much a friendly environment... Clint and Heidi treat you like a member of the family...not the red-headed stepchild kinda family either.... small groups... I think they limit the class size to 12 people... beautiful environment and the people in the small town were very friendly... the cops saw the California License plate and waved to us... everyone in town had big smiles and a helpful hand...they all seemed to know we were there to take a class...the ammo situation is expensive and that is a downer... other than that I would say the best compliment I have of the course was that I am scheduled to go back in July for home and vehicle defense with my wife and daughter... My wife felt very comfortable at the first class and really pushed to go back...
