I remember being on a first date and seeing Phone Booth. As the shooter is decribing his remington 700 ......my date leans in and says
"I don't know what that is".....me thinking.... cool... I have one in the safe at home. I tell her its a bolt action rifle commonly used by police and military and can hit someone over 600 yards away.
She leans back in and says "Why would anyone own such a thing???"

The correct response is "The same reason someone might have more than one pair of shoes, because they can!" She would have totally understood that!
