I have been observing this thread with interest since it was started by THaves.
The different viewpoints expressed are reflection of the diversity of the people expressing them and all are contributory.
Something that has not come up however, at least specifically, is the fact that many California LEOs have never even seen a California CCW Permit. Some may even still believe that California does not issue CCWs, period.
Some have some awareness of CCW requirements in their Counties however, they deal with CCW issues so rarely that their ability to handle these issues may not always be appropriate to the situation.
The requirements regarding LEO notification of CCW status upon contact all vary from County to County and itemizing the specific differences would most likey require a great deal of research and analysis.
We all have an opinion on this and all of our opinions are valuable and contributory, however, to paraphrase CCWI "
Only the opinion of the issuing authority is the one that matters".
Thanks,
