This statement is rather telling. For anyone to say that they know my reason for notifying an officer I am legally carrying is BS. It doesn't make my chest puff out to carry, nor would it make me feel like the officer would necessarily treat be better/different knowing that about me.

As others have mentioned in this thread, a casual contact is one thing. An official contact is still another and could require different actions, some dictated by the issuing authority. Know what is REQUIRED of you will dictate what you do to a certain extent. The rest will be done based on what your gut, or "comfort barometer" tells you that you should do based on the circumstances.
