The main benefit to having two of the same is that you will have an identical gun to carry if your primary is in the shop or for some reason you have had to relinquish it (involved in a shooting, or similar).

Side benefit would be that you wouldn't have to have boatloads of mags and accessories for multiple guns.

It is for this reason, my next purchase will be a Glock 21. I currently carry the G30, and typically carry it with it's 10 rounder in it, but with the Glock 21 10 rounders on my belt.

The benefit here is that I can reload to a full size grip. I would want the 21 for exposed carry.
