If it were mine, I'd get a pinch of 0000 steel wool and a bit of oil and work it till it's shiny again.
I disassemble and clean my pistol with Hoppes after shooting then put a light coat of Singer sewing machine oil (Very high quality light machine oil) on everything.
Everybody has their favorite lubricant and that's mine.

Good advice, the very fine steel wool will not damage the metal, yet should remove the blurry funky patch. I use Hoppes gun oil, but I believe any high grade oil will be effective in preventing rust if the metal is lightly coated with it.
I certainly would not send that in to Kimber for such a small item--now if the inside of the barrel is rusty or corroded, that is a different story, I would send it in in that case. Minor issues are normal maint. items for a gun owner.
