Question Questions about permit restrictions

I just picked up my permit today, and at the bottom, it says "Limited to activities associated with work."

So... that seems to be a huge restriction that limits my carrying to Bakersfield only and rules out many places even in town (church, visiting family, etc). I was wanting to carry all the time, so I'm a little disappointed by this restriction.

I was wondering what this means legally. If I was involved in an incident and went to court, would I have to prove that I was doing something work related? And what would it take to prove that I was doing something work related? I am self employed and doing computer work (repairs, installations, networking, etc.). It seems like it could get messy easily, so it makes me hesitant to carry unless I'm doing something obviously work related like dropping off a computer. What if I'm working at home for the day and go out for a lunch break... does that count?

I would rather not mess with all the questions and just find out how to get the restriction removed, if possible. I wasn't aware of it until I actually picked up the permit. Could I write a letter to the sheriff and ask to get it removed? Has anybody had experience with this or know the best way to go about it?
