I think that laser is not a bad choise for a long gun in close quarters environment but for a handgun it's more of a hindrance and liability then anything else.

Yah... said the same thing for the last 10 years or so when customers asked my opinion....
What I like about the military model specifically it that it is activated like the light on my duty gun... I simply tighten my middle finger on the frame... has a cute little button there...I have been using the light for about 5 months and done the searching for and gaining compliance from badguys/gals (one was a female) with it for real kinda thing and I really find some advantages to the switch...
and if I got the laser on.. its cause I have it pointed at something/one and I am about to get on with the gaining compliance by gunfire thing ifn they don't comply and I have to shine the flashlight thing on them anyway to insure they are indeed a threat and then I only point the gun (and would subsequently turn on the laser) at something I am going to shoot...and I did the plates at 50 yards the other night as in dark night and WOW...
So yes they have disadvantages... but I am at a disadvantage anyway cause I don't simply shoot at people in the dark... the goblin shoots at sounds and movement and what he can see...I have to shoot only known threats....kinda like a - I have to shoot back first thing....and as a substitute for night sights...HMmmmmmm I am thinking this isn't a bad thing.... especially for the over 80 crowd what carry guns and have like quad focal glasses...und dittos on da turning it on and leaving it on thing... dat bad juju much for sure ...
