I don't think that's a fair conclusion, just based off of a press article. I know you noted that the reporting may have left out pertinent details... I mean, heck - he was shooting AT an apartment complex, according to the article, but amazingly the only dead guy reported was the suspect.

It doesn't sound like they released the retired officer's statement, assuming he gave one, and therefore the author wouldn't have had access to the most important piece of information - the actual reason why he felt his or another's life was in immediate danger.

Coming to factual conclusions (even if it's just your opinion) based off of incomplete and sometimes biased news report is exactly why we have so many sheeple in America and why so many people that are inexperienced with firearms think they're bad.

That being said , I agree that the article certainly makes it sound questionable - maybe even intentionally, but I'll wait for the full details before coming to a conclusion. Carry on
