The proof required is on file with Registrars office all the candidate needs to do is show his or her ID unless your an agent of a registered California political action committee which I have no idea on how to start. But to be a candidate you have to meet the requirements set by the open seat/office. For example to run Sheriff the county requires so many signatures collected by the candidate from County residents who are also registered voters to be eligible for placement on the ballot. Once you've met the other requirements not listed the signatures are then verified by the County Registrar and if the required signatures are in fact valid your name will be placed on the ballot and therefore making you eligible to obtain voter registration information. If anyone here plans on running for Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the County of Orange (A.K.A. Sheriff) send me a PM and I can give you more information... and possibly a vote.
