Trying to influence a Party by temporarily giving up your influence to 'send a message' just gives a bigger percentage win to the bozos who want to move the Party away from you. And they will point to that bigger win and call it 'momentum' in their direction.

The way to turn the Party in your direction is to stay within it and ally yourself with those who share more of your views than the bozos.

Oh, and don't give time and money to the Party until you've given it to your allies within it. Instead, give the Party leadership a message -- a Monopoly bill taped to a letter would likely do that job. Be sure to mention who you do support, not just what you don't like.
