Default Finally made it to the range today!!!

Business commitments have kept me busy recently, however I finally made it to the range today with my new Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II.

I had very high expectations for this pistol and it more than lived up to them!!!

I fired over 300 rounds, predominantly 230 grain FMJ, however I also had a couple different brands of 230 grain Hollow Points as well as some Federal 185 Grain +p Hollow Points. I used predominantly inexpensive ammunition. I did not, however, use any "Cheap, bargain basement or reloaded" ammunition.

I fired at a variety of distances, from 3 to 25 yards, with most shooting done at 15 yards.

I have ordered some Wilson Combat 47OX magazines, however, they have not arrived yet. In addition to the OEM magazine supplied with weapon, I pick up 2 Kimber KimPro Tac-Mag magazines, a 7 round compact and an 8 round fullsize. I had zero malfunctions regardless of the ammunition or the magazine being used.

The 230 grain FMJs printed a little to the left at 15 yards, however, Winchester White Box 230 Grain Hollow Points printed exactly at point of aim. The Federal 185 Grain +P Hollowpoints printed slightly below point of aim.

Group sizes varied from around 2 1/2 inches to over 4 inches at 15 Yards with an average aggregate group size of approximately 3 inches. I am quite sure that, with more quality time with the weapon I will easily shink these groups to something worth talking about. Accuracy out of the 3 inch barrel was definately on par with most of the full size pistols I have used in the past and exceeded many of them.

I am still "breaking in" the pistol, however, I developed a high enough comfort level with the pistol today that I will be making an appointment shortly to qualify with it and have it replace the full size S&W 1006 currently on my CCW.

I will keep you all appraised of follow-on range and carry experiences with the pistol and I am happy to be a new member of "Club Kimber".

Thanks again,
